PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Following the recommendations of the First International Conference for Urban Heritage in Islamic Countries, held in May 2010 in Riyadh, organized by SCTA, on the importance of preservation and economic and cultural development of the urban heritage of the Islamic countries;

a Summer School will be held focusing on:

  • research and studies, and documentation of urban heritage sites and buildings as a right base for the further development of the “IRCICA-Prince Sultan bin Salman Architectural Heritage Database”
  • technical expertise and design of preservation & urban development projects
  • management planning evaluation of the economic and social impact, and finding appropriate financial solutions

The School will prepare young educators and professionals capable to move up concepts of urban heritage preservation in different educational and governmental levels. This Program is particularly targeting tourism managers, staff in municipalities and universities, and practitioners in the field of preservation of urban heritage.
